Evox Rifa naked and encapsulated
SMD capacitors - How does one choose?
- Naked SMD film capacitors are smaller and
generally less expensive. Naked stacked capacitors are the most size
efficient, naked wound caps are larger but do not delaminate.
- In some cases (especially in lower
voltages) naked SMD capacitors can be offered in
larger capacitance values for a given size / voltage.
- Encapsulated SMD capacitors withstand higher
soldering temperatures and do not delaminate.
- Encapsulated SMD capacitors offer better flammability
characteristics, especially in PEN dielectric.
- The electrical properties of encapsulated SMD capacitors
(especially in PEN dielectric) are less affected by humidity.
- Encapsulated SMD capacitors withstand a wider range of
chemicals and substances found in certain applications, for instance gasoline.
Evox Rifa offers a construction to meet
every need:
- Naked stacked film in sizes down to
0603.
- Naked wound film in sizes down to 2220.
- Encapsulated film in sizes down to 2220.
- MLCC in sizes down to 0201.
