Evox Rifa manufactures electrolytic, film and paper capacitors. The strength of the competition and the state of the market vary from one type of capacitor to another.

Electrolytic capacitors

Following the acquisition of BHC Aerovox Ltd. (now BHC Components Ltd.) in May 2002, the combination of Evox Rifa and BHC became a leading manucfacturer of aluminium electrolytic capacitors in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Consequently, these capacitors became clearly Evox Rifa Group’s biggest product group.

Aluminium electrolytic capacitors are sold for many applications in industrial electronics, typically drives for electric motors and UPS devices, for all kind of power supplies, where telecom power supplies are a good example, for lighting and automotive applications, not to forget the consumer applications. The markets are growing substantially led by automotive applications.

Film and paper capacitors

Plastic film and paper capacitors make up another major product group of Evox Rifa. Film capacitors are used as general purpose, precision, pulse or EMI suppression capacitors in all kind of industries, where lighting, industrial electronics, consumer (audio / video), measuring equipment and automotive applications are leading. The market is stable or slowly growing.

Evox Rifa is the world’s biggest manufacturer of metallized paper capacitors. They are used mainly for electromagnetic interference suppression in mains electricity supplies of equipment which needs to be particularly safe, such as televisions, industrial equipment and base stations for mobile phones. The markets for paper capacitors are expected to remain stable during the next few years.
