EVOX RIFA NEGOTIATES ON REORGANISING ITS EUROPEAN PRODUCTION

Evox Rifa has today introduced a proposal to move the company’s production of electrolytic capacitors from the Swedish town Gränna to its plant in Weymouth, Great Britain. Consultations with the trade unions regarding the proposal have been initiated. A concentration of the entire European electrolytic capacitor business into one site would result in the closing down of the company’s plant in Gränna, Sweden, which now employs approximately 150 persons.

Evox Rifa manufactures passive electronic components, specialising in electrolytic, plastic film and paper capacitors. The major customer groups are in industrial, automotive and consumer electronics and the lighting industry. Evox Rifa currently manufactures electrolytic capacitors at its plants in Sweden, Great Britain and China. The profitability of the Gränna plant has been unsatisfactory. The company believes that focusing the entire European production at one plant would support Evox Rifa in improving its market position in a situation where price pressure is ever increasing, and future sales growth is expected to take place increasingly in Asia. The company is convinced that the proposed solution will help Evox Rifa secure competitive and innovative capacitor solutions for present and future customers globally.
