Cross-reference of obsolete capacitor series Over the course of time a number of capacitor types have been replaced by newer series with superior characteristics. This table lists the old models and their replacements. In many cases the modern type can be used without difficulty, though the user is urged to check the specifications (especially mechanical dimensions) carefully. Note 1: These types were made in polystyrene film which is no longer available from any source. Replacement types are made with polypropylene and have different electrical and physical characteristics. Note 2: If these types are being used for pulse or AC applications be sure to check out the PCCad software and tech note available on this site. Note 3: These types are no longer made by Evox Rifa. Replacement types are available from ICAR, an Italian company, as well as other sources. Note 4: The only remaining supplier of
polycarbonate film is ceasing production. SMR uses PPS dielectric, PFR uses
polypropylene. Read about it.
